Satterfield’s Restaurant is delighted to announce Chef Rita Bernhardt as the executive chef beginning Monday, April 22. Chef Bernhardt will continue in the restaurant’s tradition of providing global dining with her own local, Southern twist.

A seasoned chef in French, Italian, Spanish, and Mediterranean influences, Bernhardt developed her culinary skills at the Western Culinary School in Portland, Oregon and received a Culinary Arts Diploma. In 2011, her career led her to New Orleans where she trained and honed her culinary and management skills at BRG Hospitality restaurants:  Domenica, Bacchanal and August. In 2018, she earned the position of chef de cuisine at Domenica.

Chef Bernhardt’s résumé also includes Assistant Food Stylist for the HBO series, Treme, skilled barista in specialty coffee and espresso beverages, and restaurant consultant for Dick and Jenny’s restaurant.

“We proudly welcome Chef Bernhardt into the Satterfield’s family. She brings not only excellent qualifications and experience, but also a passion for fine dining. I look forward to a spirited collaboration with Rita,” said owner and restaurateur, Becky Satterfield.

Additionally, while in New Orleans Chef Bernhardt founded The PDR, a supper club and catering service, as chef and co-owner with her husband, William Barial, III. William joins her in Birmingham as part of the Satterfield’s team as general manager.

Chef Bernhardt and William Barial were both named as a New Orleans Magazine Person to Watch in 2015.
